2014 Blogger Challenge #2: Skincare
Here where I live is currently winter, the winter here was all nice and autumnal just up until about two weeks ago, when it turned super cold. Well -15 degrees of Celsius is super cold when it has been +4 degrees all winter long.
In the evening I start off by washing my face with Freeman Refining Cleanser, it has salicylic acid in it that helps to prevent and also heal break outs. It's a light green clear gel that doesn't really foam up, but cleans my face nicely. I have been using this for about half a year now I believe and to be honest, it is good, but I can't wait to be done with this one. I really want to buy the Garnier 2in1 cleanser that also has salicylic acid in it and is meant for removing makeup and cleansing your face. I have tried that one, but I'll explain it in a separate section later on.
When I see that my makeup hasn't fully come off I use my Green Nature gel cleanser, I have the one in Rose and the other one in Tea Tree. I just take a cotton pad and apply some on it, sometimes I also put a bit of their avocado or jojoba oil on the cotton pad along with the cleanser and clean the rest of my makeup off my face. I also like to use the gel right before applying my moisturiser to get all the residue from my cleansers off my face.
After cleaning my face I apply my moisturiser, in the evening I use Green Natures Coconut moisturiser along with a drop of their jojoba oil. Jojoba helps to regulate the sebum production and also heal inflammations and it also moisturises the face. From time to time I also like adding an extra drop of apricot oil that has anti aging properties (I'm 27 and I know I look a lot younger, but that's exactly how I'd like to keep it). Under my eyes I use Green Nature's avocado oil. For me the jojoba oil also helps to heal a inflamed break out, I just simply tab a bit on the pimple and let it sink in. Something that I use before moisturiser when I have a break out it Aloe gel, it really helps to clean it up and heal.
After moisturising I sometimes still also have to use my acne medicine, since some of the pimples just need to (not need, but I want them to) be dried out quicker then the jojoba oil helps them to heal. I usually apply my acne gel just before falling asleep, so that all the oils and creams have sunk into my skin already. The gel I am currently using is from the pharmacy and I didn't need a prescription for it, I also saw a commercial yesterday that it is the most sold acne medicine that you can get without the doctor's prescription here in Finland, and the name of it is Basiron. It has benzoyl peroxide in it 5% one. I just take some and tab it on the pimple, it takes a couple of days for the really bad and deep pimples to clear up, but it really does help me.
An extra step for me is to use pore packs, the ones I use are from eBay and they are from the brand Bioré. I really like them. You just wet your nose with water, apply the patch and then wait till it is dry and take it off. A bizarre thing is that it is really rewarding to look at the goop that comes out of my nose :D. Crazy, I know! They are a good help to remove the dirt from the pores. I'd also like to try out the ones for forehead and chin.
For my body I have been using an exfoliating loofah with just any kind of nice smelling shower gel. I haven't found that one brand of shower gels that I'd like. I currently have run out of all my body scrubs, but I like to use a sugar scrub, since it is more gentle and doesn't hurt like a salt scrub does. The ones that I have been previously enjoying have been from Dermosil and Freeman.
To moisturise my body I use one of Green Nature body lotions I love both of the ones that I have for testing: Oriental Rice Bran Oil and Monoi Oil. I also loved the Monoi
I lately had trouble with dry feet too, so I discovered that pure coconut oil is the best moisturiser for my feet, but I'll have another post up for it ;).
For my hands I use either oils or my nail balm from Maikelluke. It moisturises my hands deeply and makes them feel so healthy and nice.
This is all for my current skin care routine. I usually change things up every now and then.
